About Mechanical Wristwatches
The JUNZEN AKATSUKI is a mechanical wristwatch, meaning it operates without the need for batteries, powered instead by a mainspring. Here’s how to get it started and keep it running smoothly:
- Gently turn the crown on the right side of the watch upwards about 10 times, until you see the hands begin to move. A full winding, achieved by 40 turns, is recommended for optimal performance.
- Once set in motion, the watch is designed to wind itself with the natural movement of your arm. If you notice it's not keeping time accurately, give the crown a few manual turns to boost the power reserve.
- A fully wound watch should run for approximately 42 hours.
- To adjust the time, gently pull the crown out one click and turn it until the hands are at the correct time. Then, push the crown back in to set.
- Please note that mechanical watches do not offer the same precision as quartz models; you can expect a daily deviation of a few tens of seconds (daily rate -10~+30 seconds).
- To maintain its performance, we recommend a complete service every 3 to 5 years. This service is not complimentary, but we’re here to help - just reach out to us via the inquiry form.
A few precautions:
- The JUNZEN AKATSUKI is delicate and sensitive to shocks. Please avoid exposing it to strong impacts or wearing it during vigorous activities.
- It is also sensitive to magnetism. Keep it away from devices that emit magnetic fields, like speakers.
- The watch is water-resistant up to 3 atmospheres, but this is based on static pressure tests. Day-to-day forces could affect this resistance, so please avoid exposing it to water when possible. It's not meant for showering or swimming.
After use, store your watch in a well-ventilated place.
About the Strap
- The leather strap is not water-resistant. If it gets wet, dry it immediately with a cloth.
- You can wipe the back of the strap with a damp cloth, but make sure it’s well wrung out.
- The leather is treated to enhance its natural texture, which means it might transfer color if exposed to moisture, sweat, or friction. Please be mindful of this.
- To help prevent color transfer, we recommend using a waterproof spray available in stores.
- For comfortable wear, ensure the strap is not too tight; a good guideline is being able to fit one finger between the strap and your wrist.
After use, store the strap in a well-ventilated place.
